A Victorious Wretch!

Romans 7:24, "Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?"

This is the soul's deep sigh which only the believing heart, weary and worn by sin, can understand.  It is the wailing of a soul, heavy-laiden but sanctified, imprisoned within the flesh that is poisoned by sin.

Romans 7:25, "Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!  So then, I of myself serve the law of God with my mind but with my flesh I serve the law of sin."

Though Paul is in the midst of complaint, the apostle brings to his own attention how he has great reason to be thankful to God for deliverance.  He is reminded that he is free from the law, no longer under the reign of sin or the mind of the flesh.  Claiming this assurance of grace he is at peace, having a firm hope that release from this life will liberate him from the law of sin in his members.

Conclusion:
If the condition were that we must be clean in ourselves, pleasing to God through our works, we would always be in doubt; but since Christ is our righteousness we know that we are pleasing to God, and therefore we shall ever praise him.  Because it is in Christ that we are found acceptable to God we need have no misgivings.  We thank our God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
