Harrison appeared before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on Thursday, February 16th, to discuss the recent U.S. Health and Human Services Ruling regarding contraceptives. On behalf of the LCMS, Harrison spoke to the issue violating citizens' freedom of religion and freedom of conscience.

CLERGY: We do not hate women. We love and cherish women. We are here to defend religious liberty.
LIBERALS: Then, why would you rather let thousands of women die than give them access to contraceptives that would save their lives?
CLERGY: We are not opposed to contraceptives used for medical purposes. We are opposed to abortifacients, which are used not for medical purposes, but to kill unborn babies. But, again, we are here to defend religious liberty.
